Mr. Mohammad Al Kurd, Coordinator of Alumni Affairs at the Community Service and Continuing Education Deanship, Islamic University of Gaza, has concluded an International Short Summer Course in Sustainable Development, titled “Creating Collective Resilience for Sustainable Development,” making him the first Palestinian to participate in a program held in Saka Bumi City, West Java, Indonesia.
The program commenced on July 1st, with the presence of the Deputy President of Saka Bumi City’s Mohammedan University, Dr. Yuni Sri Wahyuni, the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Human Sciences, Dr. Razqi Saburana, as well as faculty and administrative members. Dr. Razqi welcomed the Palestinian participation in these programs and regarded it as an honor that Palestinians chose Saka Bumi University as a platform for exchanging perspectives and culture. He expressed hope that this initial visit will play the foundation for such activities, which can be repeated later with Palestinian students.

Dr. Yuni Sri Wahyuni expressed her gratitude to the leadership of the Higher Education Research Association in Mohammedan Society for supporting the program held within the premises of Saka Bumi Mohammedan University.
In his detailed presentation, Mr. Al Kurd extensively covered Islamic University of Gaza, its graduates, students, and the programs it offers to the community. He highlighted the university’s global standing among other universities worldwide. He also discussed the challenges faced by university students under political, economic, and social conditions, as well as the imposed blockade on the region and its impact on various sectors. Throughout the program, Mr. Al Kurd actively participated in all activities, tasks, and excursions, amounting to an intensive training of 80 hours over two continuous weeks.

An agreement has been reached to prepare for the signing of a collaboration agreement between the two universities in the fields of academic exchange and mutual benefit in the coming days.
