Within the framework of international Credit Mobility projects funded by the European Erasmus+ program, Professor Dr. Abdul Karim Radwan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the Islamic University of Gaza, concluded an international mobility period at Dicle University in Turkey. He was welcomed by Professor Dr. Faruk Faruk Gokce, Head of the Foreign Relations Office, and Mr. Serkan Ekmen, Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator at Dicle University. During the visit, Dr. Abdul Karim Ridwan provided a detailed and comprehensive presentation about the Islamic University of Gaza, its departments, centers, achievements, research awards, and international partnerships.

The visit included a sightseeing tour to explore the historical and archaeological landmarks of Diyarbakir city, as well as the facilities and departments of Dicle University, including its hospitals. Additionally, a visit to the Central University Hospital was arranged, accompanied by faculty members from the Faculty of Nursing at Dicle University, to know more about the hospital departments, student training mechanisms, monitoring and evaluation processes, and to compare them with the practices at the Islamic University of Gaza and hospitals within the sector.

Moreover, several meetings were held during the visit with Dr. Leyla Aydin, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Dicle University, and Dr. Fonda Silver, Head of the Nursing Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences and an expert in psychiatric nursing. They were introduced to the Faculty of Nursing and the available specializations at the undergraduate and master’s levels, as well as the nature of the faculty’s departments, which include the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and other medical sciences. Dr. Abdul Karim Radwan spoke about the nursing programs at the Islamic University of Gaza and its departments within the bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Ways to exchange knowledge, supervision, and joint discussions in the field of nursing education were discussed, as well as the possibility of exchanging some postgraduate students to continue their research through bilateral exchange between the two universities. Dr. Radwan presented a copy of his book titled “Mental Health Nursing in Palestine” to Dr. Fonda, which is the approved teaching material at the Islamic University of Gaza and other Palestinian universities. She expressed her willingness to teach it to her students in the psychiatric nursing course.

During the visit, Dr. Radwan also met with the President of Dicle University, Professor Dr. Mehmet Karakoç, who specializes in rheumatology. They discussed the nature of cooperation between Dicle University and the Islamic University of Gaza. He also met with the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Professor Vahap Uzbulut, and the faculty members to discuss future cooperation mechanisms and he expressed his willingness to visit Gaza.

On the sidelines of the visit, Dr. Radwan met with the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Professor prof. Dr. H. Musa BAĞCI, accompanied by Dr. Orhan Janbulat, Vice Dean, and they agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Faculty of Sharia and Law and the Faculty of Usool Eddin at the Islamic University of Gaza and the Faculty of Theology at Dicle University.

It is worth mentioning that the Islamic University of Gaza has participated in 65 international Credit Mobility projects, providing approximately 320 international exchange opportunities for students and university staff, collaborating with several European universities in Greece, Austria, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Turkey.
