External Relations holds informative workshop on Erasmus+ program

External Relations at the Islamic University of Gaza held an introductory workshop on the EU’s Erasmus+ program and the new directions for submitting project proposals for the current call of the program.

The workshop has been informative and addressed the key domains and features of the Erasmus+ program, which focuses on the needs and priorities of third world countries. The program aims to support higher education institutions for social and economic recovery, growth, and prosperity, in addition to interacting with modern trends, especially economic globalization. The key priorities of the program in the southern Mediterranean region included peace and security, digital entrepreneurship, energy, and the environment.

The workshop has also reviewed the most significant types of projects in terms of the geographical areas of the project partnerships and illustrated a few example projects funded by the program in its last call.

Moreover, the workshop demonstrated the classifications and types of the three branches within the capacity building domain of higher education, which are represented in fostering access to cooperation in higher education that targets universities with new partnerships in the program, partnerships for transformation, and structural reform projects that aim to strengthen inclusive higher education systems and increase the capacities of higher education bodies.

The workshop recommended the need to submit qualitative projects free of stereotypes and redundancy, in addition to directing teams to actively participate in the capacity-building domains of education and vocational training, as well as youth.
