Engineer Ahmed Al-Kariri, Project Coordinator in External Relations Deanship at the Islamic University, participated in the International Training Week organized by University of Porto in the Portuguese city of Porto for five days from 16-20 May 2022, with the participation of 30 representatives of 13 universities from different countries, as part of the international exchange projects funded by the European Erasmus Plus program.
On the sidelines of the week, a number of workshops were held to learn about the participating universities and their experiences in managing international projects, as well as their experiences in developing international projects in line with Erasmus Plus standards.

This visit is part of the activities of JAMIES International Exchange Project, which is the product of a partnership between five Portuguese universities (University of Minho, University of Algarve, University of New Lisbon, University of Porto and UTAD University) and several universities in the Middle East in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Tunisia. JAMIES project facilitates international exchange between students and staff of partner universities for study, teaching or training.
During the training week, the new Erasmus Plus system was discussed, as well as a review of a number of experiences of University of Porto in developing joint projects.

Eng. Al-Kariri gave a presentation on the Islamic University’s experience and its achievements in international projects over the past years, in addition to holding a special meeting with the international relations staff at University of Porto to explore ways of future collaboration. They also discussed the Islamic University’s experience in virtual exchange programs and their mechanism of action, in addition to ways of cooperation in this field during the coming period.
