IUG signs a memorandum of understanding with Kaiserslautern University of Technology in Germany

The Islamic University of Gaza signed a memorandum of understanding with Kaiserslautern University of Technology (TU Kaiserslautern) in Germany. This step comes to shed lights on the importance of expanding and diversifying IUG international relations and partnerships, and strengthening the capacities of its staff and students.

This memorandum is a sequel to the efforts of Prof. Wissam Ashour , a faculty member in Computer Engineering Department at IUG, who spent a research visit period at Kaiserslautern University of Technology as part of the activities of Palestinian-German Cooperation in Scientific Research project.

The signed memorandum of understanding, which will last for a period of five years, aims to promote direct communication and cooperation between faculty members and researchers between the two universities through the exchange of experiences in teaching, research and culture in areas of common interest. This is in addition to developing joint research projects, promoting joint supervision of postgraduate programs, exchanging professors, researchers and students, and conducting joint courses, seminars, symposiums and other activities.

Prof. Ashour pointed out that the signing of this memorandum is a first stage and a starting point for proposed cooperation opportunities with Artificial Intelligence Research Center (DFKI) of Kaiserslautern University in Germany, which will provide training opportunities to a number of researchers in Computer Engineering Department in the near future.
