IUG Signs Cooperation Agreement with Mercy Malaysia

The Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) signed cooperation agreement with Mercy Malaysia to fund Psychological and Social Support Project carried out in Gaza Strip. The agreement was signed by the Vice President for the External Affairs- Dr. Nazmi Al-Masri and the Manager of the Psychological and Social Support Project Dr. Anwar Al-Abadsah. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Project Manager of Mercy Malaysia Mrs. Enas Qandeel and the Head of External Relations Department Eng. Amani Al-Mqadma.


Dr. Nazmi Al-Masri praised the role of Mercy Malaysia in supporting the non-governmental organizations, hoping that this agreement would be an extension of permeant partnership with Mercy Malaysia for the sake of supporting all groups in the Gazan community.    

Dr. Anwar Al-Abadsah, in turn, mentioned that this project aims at providing several psychological services to all social groups through connecting to and contacting with all the private, local, and governmental institutions to alleviate the psychological pressure the people of Gaza have been undergoing and then reaching psychological equilibrium. Dr. Abadsah highlighted that this project is going to be carried out for a period of 11 months.

The main expected outcome of this project is: “4000 people are going to have access to psychodiagnosis and psychotherapy sessions in Psychological Counselling Center in IUG; the beneficiaries will be provided also with valuable feedback pertaining their psychological health.”

It is worth mentioning that this project is the second phase of a previously funded one by Mercy Malaysia and carried out by the Department of Psychological Science in IUG. The second phase comes as a consequent upon the success of the previous phase of the project.
