IUG research entitled, ”The Resistance of Salmonella Isolated from Poultry and their Meat to Antibiotics” has won WHO Advisory Group on Integrated Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AGISAR) finance. The project is expected to go on the ground by June 2017 by the staff including, Prof. Abdelraouf Elmanama–Vice President for Research and Postgraduates Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al- Bayoumi from Ministry of Agriculture and two technicians from IUG.

The project aims at discovering the contribution of poultry consumed in Gaza Strip in the spread of bacteria resisting antibiotics in the Palestinian society. It also focuses on specific types of microbes including salmonella bacteria naturally found in poultry, but causing many dangerous diseases for humans.
