Initiating 1st training week of E+ BERC project

“Development of Administrative and Economic Research Centers in Higher Education Institutions in Palestine” Project “BERC”, that is funded by the European Union within Erasmus+ Program, initiated activities of the training week in the field of scientific publishing and networking. Activities lasted until 24, November, 2016, at the Islamic University of Gaza. Initiating training week coincided with the Royal Institute of Technology ((KTH) Sweden.

The meeting was held at the Royal Institute of Technology and was attended by faculty members and representatives of Scientific Research Affairs in the West Bank universities partner in the project, namely: Al Quds Open University and Bir Zeit University. The Islamic University of Gaza hosted the meeting through electronic communication technique, “Skype”, and was attended by faculty members in the university along with a presentative delegation for scientific research affairs of Gaza Strip universities, namely: Al-Azhar University, University College of Applied Sciences, Al- Quds Open University, Palestine Technical College in Deir al-Balah, and Science and Technology College in Khan Younis.


For his part, Dr. Mohammed Saleh, Coordinator of the Royal Institute of Technology KTH- Sweden, welcomed the attendees from all universities whether Palestinian or European. Dr. Asa Carloson delivered a presentation regarding the role of internationalization at the Royal Institute of Technology KTH. The meeting also included a presentation on the Swedish system of higher education presented by Dr. Victor Kordas. The last presentation in the first week of training was on joint programs for “excellence in Education and Research.”


It is worth mentioning that the Islamic University of Gaza had organized for this activity from September until November to be held at the Royal Institute of Technology KTH- Sweden. Unfortunately, closure of Palestinian crossing points prevented the attendance of Gaza universities. However, Gaza Strip universities assured to participate in the training week. It had been arranged to ensure the participation of all universities from the Gaza Strip.
