Open Society Scholarship Programs and Arab Regional Office
The Open Society Foundations’ Palestinian Rule of Law (PROL) Program is accepting applications for LL.M. Scholarships . Approximately 5 awards will be available for the 2016-2017 academic year .
LL.M. (MASTER OF LAWS) Scholarships
PROL LL.M. scholarships provide support for the completion of an LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree. Scholarships will be tenable at select law schools in the United States and the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, an OSI-affiliated institution providing American-style teaching and U.S.-accredited qualifications .
Summer Pre-Academic Program : All LL.M. fellows will attend a pre-academic summer course administered by the Open Society Foundations in July 2016 . Attendance costs will be covered by grantees’ scholarships .
Scholarship Benefits : University tuition, monthly living stipend (sufficient for a single grantee), travel costs, educational materials, professional development expenses, health insurance, and grantee conference expenses .
Requirements : Applicants should have outstanding relevant academic qualifications (a LL.B. / B.A. in law or other law degree is required), professional aptitude, and leadership potential .
Candidates must be normally resident in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) or Gaza and proficient in spoken and written English and Arabic . Successful applicants must commit to returning to the West Bank or Gaza Strip upon completion of the scholarship .

Open positions 2015 Application Deadlines: February 15, resp. May 15, resp. September 15, 2015 The Doctoral Program "Discrete Mathematics" (DK) offers an advanced PhD training and research program. It is run jointly by the Austrian universities
and funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the three supporting universities.
We offer up to 22 PhD positions for up to 4 years and a gross salary of 27.900 EUR (30 hours per week). Optional teaching is compensated separately. There is additional funding for extended stays abroad. The positions are assigned to the 11 specific research projects listed below.

Application
The future doctoral students must exhibit a strong track record of mathematical studies that is equivalent to a master degree which must be valid by the beginning of the contract. Graduates from excellent bachelor programs can also be admitted, subject to additional curricular requirements.

- a short description of your qualifications and experience (i.e. list or transcript of courses, Diploma or Master thesis)
- a letter describing your scientific interests, possibly in connection with the offered PhD projects
- your preferred research topics
- your earliest possible starting date
The candidates are encouraged to have confidential reference letters by their master thesis advisor, and if possible by one or two further internationally recognized researchers, being directly sent to [email protected].

The American Consulate General in Jerusalem Announces the 2016 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program

The American Consulate General in Jerusalem and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) are pleased to announce the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program for FY 2016.
The Fulbright FLTA Program is a nine-month, ECA-funded, non-degree program for early career English teachers or professionals in related fields. Candidates who are teachers in the fields of American Studies, Journalism and Media, and American/English Literature will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Participants have the opportunity to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency, and extend their knowledge of the society and culture of the United States while serving as teaching assistants for their native language to U.S. students and strengthening foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities. Fulbright FLTA participants also interact with their host communities in conversation groups, extracurricular activities, and community outreach projects. Fulbright FLTA participants must return to their home countries upon completion of the program.
Fulbright FLTA participants may assist in up to twenty hours of language classes per week and are required to enroll in at least two courses per semester, one of which must be in U.S. Studies. Coursework is offered on either an audit or credit basis. Fulbright FLTA participants will also be expected to facilitate cultural events, language clubs, and language tables.
Fulbright FLTA participants will be required to attend a U.S.-based orientation sponsored by ECA during the summer of 2016 before arriving at their host institutions in August. Fulbright FLTA participants will also be required to attend a mid-year enrichment conference in the United States, hosted by ECA and coordinated by the Institute of International Education (IIE), to share and discuss foreign language teaching best practices and their current teaching experiences with other Fulbright FLTA participants.
Participant Qualifications
· Applicants must reside in Jerusalem, the West Bank, or Gaza Strip throughout the nomination and selection process.
· Applicants must be teachers of English or in training to become teachers of English, and at minimum must possess the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s degree by June 1, 2016.
· Fluency in English is mandatory, demonstrated by a score of no less than 550 (paper based TOEFL); 213 (computer based TOEFL – CBT); 79-80 (internet based TOEFL – IBT) or 6.0 (overall score international English language testing system – IELTS).
· Applicants must demonstrate maturity, dependability, integrity, and professionalism.
· The FLTA program does not support dependents or family members. Family and friends may visit program participants during holiday periods. By extension of this policy, pregnant candidates may not participate in the program if the birth is due during the program period.
· Applicants are typically teachers of English or in training to become teachers of English, and at minimum must possess the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s degree by June 1, 2016 to allow time to submit an official transcript prior to the start of the Fulbright FLTA Program.
· Material misrepresentation (e.g., plagiarism) at any time during the application or grant period is grounds for selection withdrawal or grant termination, as well as ineligibility for future participation.
· FLTA applicants should be energetic, early career educators capable of succeeding in the dual role of teaching assistant and student. They must be open to living with their U.S. student peers in undergraduate or graduate level campus housing and also engaging with faculty and staff with maturity and professionalism.
· Fulbright FLTA participants are required to return to their home countries upon completion of the nine-month program. ECA will not support any extension requests for participants. The Fulbright FLTA program does not support dependents or family members. Candidates may not have any dependents accompany them for any time during the program. Family and friends may visit program participants during holiday periods. By extension of this policy, pregnant candidates may not participate in the program if the birth is due during the program period.
· ECA will not support any extension requests for participants.
· Holders of American passports or green cards are not eligible to participate in this program.
· Participation in the program is contingent upon the applicant qualifying for a J-1 visa to the U.S.

Announces
The FY 2015 the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program
mid-August 2016 to mid-December 2016.
Application Deadline: November 14, 2015
This Program brings approximately 20 international teachers to the U.S. for a semester-long program at a host U.S. university; and sends U.S. teachers abroad for three to six months. The program will take place from mid-August 2016 to mid-December 2016. Teachers pursue individual inquiry projects, take courses for professional development at a host university or institute, and observe and lead master classes and seminars for teachers and students at local primary and secondary schools.
The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Branch provides funding and overall program coordination for this Program in consultation with the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB) and under a cooperative agreement with the Institute of International Education (IIE). It is fully funded by the Department of State in Washington DC.
Teachers will be placed at a U.S. university graduate school of education and will audit up to two classes, pursue an inquiry project, observe/team-teach/lead classes for U.S. teachers and students in local schools, and engage in other teaching related activities. The designs and proposals for the inquiry projects should be included in the application. Examples of projects for international teachers include current methodologies for teaching English as a Second Language, math, science, music or visual and performing arts; working with special needs students; promoting civic engagement or service learning; environmental education; school management or leadership; or development of a curriculum component on other topics that meet a critical need in the candidate's home country.
The U.S. host university will be responsible for designing a specialized orientation and seminars for the teachers and will ensure that each group has access to a variety of professional development activities. A host university faculty advisor will be assigned to each teacher; that advisor will guide the participant in the refinement and implementation of her/his project
Eligibility and Application Requirements:
· Full time K-12 teaching position (Primary and secondary level), including classroom teachers, guidance counselors, curriculum coordinators, Special Education coordinator, media specialists/librarians and talented and gifted coordinators.
· Spend at least 50% of time interacting with students
· Five years of full time teaching experience
· Proven track record of professional development activities and leadership
· Primary and secondary school teachers who hold full-time teaching positions in any subject are eligible.
· Teacher trainers are also eligible to apply.
· For the purpose of determining eligibility, "full-time" refers to applicants who are currently employed full-time or who hold a combination of positions that add up to full time equivalency. All applicants must have completed at least five years of full-time teaching at the program start and the most competitive applicants will have shown evidence of leadership and have experience leading workshops or other professional development activities for their colleagues.
· Educational administrators (such as representatives or officials of the Ministry of Education) and school administrators who do not teach at least fifty percent of their time are not eligible or appropriate for this program, since the focus of the program is on issues in teaching rather than educational administration. Preference will be given to candidates who serve students in under-resourced communities.
· All candidates must have sufficient oral and written English language skills to audit university courses and to teach, lead seminars, and give presentations in U.S. schools.
· Acceptable documentation of English language proficiency is a TOEFL score of 550 on the paper and pencil test (computer based TOEFL of 213 or internet based TOEFL of 79) or an IELTS score of 6.5.
· Applicants cannot be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders; persons desiring or holding permanent residence in the United States are not eligible to apply
· The applicant's name should be given exactly as it appears on the applicant's passport with family (last) name underlined.
