Call for Applications-International Max Planck Research School

The International Max Planck Research School for Computational Biology and Scientific Computing educates students at the interface of computer science and biology! The school is a joint graduate program of the Freie Universität Berlin (FU) and the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (MPI-MG).

To select the most promising students from around the world for our training program, we employ a two-step selection process consisting of awritten online application and a selection symposium at the MPI.

Our application platform is now open. Deadline for application is Febuary 22, 2016 With the application we ask for a letter of motivation, a formal CV, certificates, two references and a research proposal.

After the deadline, all applications are reviewed by the coordinator and the faculty and each student is graded in terms of their grades, scientific interestes, and more non-scientific characteristics. Approximately 15 of the best graded students will be invited to the selection symposim, which ist held in May.

Sciences Po’ Paris has created a training program to support and guide young Mediterranean women in their professional and personal fulfillment. The Training program, will contribute to develop a solidarity and mutual support network among participants in order to contribute to the creation of a long-term culture of gender parity.

OBJECTIVES
The goal of the training program is to improve the competencies of young Mediterranean women as leaders of tomorrow and advocates of gender equality.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
1. Age between 25 and 35.

2. Eligible nationalities : Turk, Palestinian, Moroccan, Tunisian, Algerian, Libyan, Egyptian, Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian.
3. Being an agent of change :

-          Entrepreneurs, CEO, COO, founders of ecommerce platforms, start-ups, companies etc…

-          Artists, musicians, dancers, film makers, etc...

-          Researchers,

-           Politicians,

-           Humanitarian or civil/women rights activists.

4. Promoting gender equality.
5. A commitment to return to their country of origin and utilize their new skills and know-how to spread the culture of equality and fight for gender parity.
6. Communication skills.
7. Being fluent in English and/or in French.

LOCATION AND TIME OF THE TRAINING
The program will be held in Paris (Sciences Po University) and Brussels (European Union Parliament) from June 1st to 15th 2015.

COVERED COSTS

Expenses will be covered by the organizers.

Gaza Oxford Brookes University Scholarship

The Oxford Brookes Gaza Scholarship Scheme is supported by the Asfari Foundation and was created in 2009, out of a strong will to support the people of Gaza through bringing in one student each year at graduate level to undertake a course of study leading to the award of an Oxford Brookes Masters’ degree

WHAT IS COVERED 

The scholarship covers full fees, accommodation and most living expenses for the academic year.

 Applicants should fulfil the following criteria:

• Wish to study for a one year full-time master’s degree at Oxford Brookes University
• Have a good undergraduate degree (equivalent to a 1st/2:1)
• Be under 35 years of age
• Have an IELTS score of 6.5 or above
• Have relevant work experience
• Undertake to return to Gaza after completing their studies
• Be in financial need

PRIORITY FIELDS OF STUDY

• Built Environment, Regeneration, Development, Environmental Management 
• Development and Emergency Practice 
• Public Health, Disease Prevention and Control, Rehabilitation, Social Care 
• Law, Human Rights

Application for the scholarship

Having made the application as described above, applicants for the scholarship should then write a covering letter of no more than 500 words, confirming that they have applied for admission to the university, stating which program they have applied for, and  explaining both how they meet the criteria and why they should be considered for the scholarship.

The program welcomes applications from promising female students from Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Our selection process has proven to be highly competitive. In order to match the program’s standards, eligible applicants should complete the Daughters for Life Foundation scholarship application form and complete the appropriate university’s online application for admission in September 2014.

Applications will be considered based on financial need, academic achievement, satisfactory references, community involvement as well as demonstrated compassion and creativity.
